UC California Naturalist Certification Program

UC California Naturalist Certification Program

Spring 2022 Course – February 17 to April 21, 2022

Stewards is pleased to host the UC California Naturalist Certification Program. This 9 week, 50+ hour class will introduce you to the wonders the Sonoma Coast and engage you in the stewardship of California’s natural communities. Through the University of California Naturalist Program, participants become active members in a growing movement of conservation citizen science, and volunteer activism. Our unique ecosystem offers a landscape where temperate rain forest meets Mediterranean chaparral.

Participants will explore the redwood forests, oak woodlands, and riparian habitats of California’s coastal mountains. Class lectures and field trips will venture from coastal ranges to the ocean, informing about coastal prairies, estuaries, and marine tidal zones.

This course combines science curriculum, journaling, guest lecturers, daily field study, off site trips, and local cultural knowledge. The California Naturalist Program promotes environmental literacy and stewardship through discovery and action.
