Your Support Makes a Difference
Your support helps us educate park visitors of all ages about the importance of being good stewards of the natural and cultural resources in our State Parks. Stewards stepped up and is currently keeping Austin Creek State Recreation Area open through an operating agreement with State Parks. Our environmental education programs serve over 6,000 school children each year! In addition, we support two State Parks visitor centers, public education activities and stewardship programs in our parks. Donations can be designated for specific programs that reflect your passion. General donations are used for programs without adequate funding at the discretion of the Stewards Board and staff. Donations $35 or more include a membership.
Stewards of the Coast and Redwoods is supported primarily through resale of educational materials in its visitor centers, sale of firewood at State Parks campgrounds, memberships, grants, donations from individuals and corporations and other fund development activities. As a 501(c)3 public benefit corporation all donations to our organization are tax deductible. Our tax ID number is 94-3039895.
Donor-advised Fund – DAF
What is a DAF?
A donor-advised fund (DAF) is a centralized charitable account. It allows charitably-inclined individual, families and businesses to make tax-deductible charitable donations of cash, publicly-traded stock and in some case, certain illiquid assets, to a public charity that sponsors a DAF program. Donate Your Time
Stewards of the Coast and Redwoods relies on dedicated volunteers to help us support our parks, programs, and community events.
We have opportunities for volunteers who can assist in the office, from home, or on special projects—so whether you have a few hours or a particular skill to share, we would love to hear from you.
Our special event volunteers are especially valuable, helping make fundraising events and community programs possible throughout the year. Opportunities include events at the Armstrong Redwoods Forest Theater, Family Day in Your Park, Art in the Park, the annual Fisherman’s Festival, and other outreach events.

Be an Advocate for California State Parks
California’s state parks are among our most treasured public resources—but maintaining them, protecting them, and keeping them open takes more than state funding alone.
For decades, California’s parks have faced budget challenges and deferred maintenance, putting many of these special places at risk. Stewards of the Coast and Redwoods was created to help fill that gap.
In 2012, Stewards became the operator of Austin Creek State Recreation Area, helping keep this beautiful park open to the public. Today, we continue to support parks through fundraising, advocacy, volunteer programs, education, events, stewardship, and visitor services.
But we cannot do it alone.
