How You Can Give

Your Support Makes a Difference

Your support helps us educate park visitors of all ages about the importance of being good stewards of the natural and cultural resources in our State Parks. Stewards stepped up and is currently keeping Austin Creek State Recreation Area open through an operating agreement with State Parks. Our environmental education programs serve over 6,000 school children each year! In addition, we support two State Parks visitor centers, public education activities and stewardship programs in our parks. Donations can be designated for specific programs that reflect your passion. General donations are used for programs without adequate funding at the discretion of the Stewards Board and staff. Donations $35 or more include a membership.

Stewards of the Coast and Redwoods is supported primarily through resale of educational materials in its visitor centers, sale of firewood at State Parks campgrounds, memberships, grants, donations from individuals and corporations and other fund development activities. As a 501(c)3 public benefit corporation all donations to our organization are tax deductible. Our tax ID number is 94-3039895.

Memorial Picnic Table for family, friends or business.

Stewards is now offering supporters an opportunity to donate an ADA picnic table in one of our state parks. Your table can have your family name, business name, a memorial designation, or be engraved to honor a loved one. Tribute Tables are recognized with monitary gifts starting at $2,500 (although most tables average $3,500), are 8 foot long and 3 inches thick and made out of con-heart redwood.  Wording is included – on both ends of the table there is enough space for a maximum of 32 characters per line (characters count includes letters, spaces, punctuation, and special characters) and there is two lines available per side.

AVAILABLE TABLE AREAS
Click on the link to view the location where a table can potentially be placed. Please note that the areas are approximate, and availability may change. Most, but not all, have bathrooms nearby. Tables are placed at predetermined locations in Sonoma Coast State Parks, at Armstrong State Natural Reserve or in the Austin Creek State Recreation Area.

1. Inland: Armstrong Redwoods SNR, 17000 Armstrong Woods Rd, Guerneville, CA 95446.  There are a few remaining spots in our picnic area, and at the very back parking lot.  Both areas have access to bathrooms, BBQ’s, and are located under huge redwood trees. Many have creek views.  Thousands of acres of hiking can be accessed. Call for a apointment to view available areas at 707-869-9177 ex 2. Table space is available in the picnic area, located here, as well as the back parking area, which is located here. Starting at $3,500.

2. Inland: Schoolhouse Flats and Bullfrog Pond Campground in Austin Creek, located 3 miles past Armstrong Redwoods.
 a) Schoolhouse Flats is located (almost) at the top of the hill at Austin Creek. Table locations are here. The mountain and valley views from Schoolhouse Flats are breathtaking! Thousands of acres of hiking can be accessed. Call for a apointment to view available areas at 707-869-9177 ex 2.
b) At Bullfrog Pond, the Wallbridge Fire burned all of our tables. You can help Stewards reopen the campground by sponsoring a table, which would be located in this area.  Table locations are in camping spots. Thousands of acres of hiking can be accessed. Call for a apointment to view available areas at 707-869-9177 ex 2. Starting at $3,500.

3. Coastal: Vista Trail Overlook which is north of Jenner, at the bottom of Meyers Grade.  This is a very pretty area, private and quiet.  There are quite a few spots such as: here,  here, here and here. Bathrooms are nearby at the parking lot. No beach access. Starting at $3,500.

4. Coastal: At Goat Rock there is one spot left at the top of the hill with ocean views just before the road drops down to the beach.  Bathrooms are a short drive, located in the beach parking area.  Starting at $3,500.

5. Coastal: Rock Point, 6700 Coast Hwy 1. In this small field at this overlook there is room for quite a few tables.  Some areas would be lovely under the tall shady trees. No bathrooms. No beach access. The closest bathroom is at Wright’s Beach, which is about .09 mile away, about a 4 minute drive.  Starting at $2,500.

6. Coastal: Schoolhouse Beach: For now, we have one space at Schoolhouse Beach that looks out towards the Pacific Ocean from the parking lot area. Bathrooms are next to the parking lot. Schoolhouse Beach is a beautiful beach, fun for families.  Call 707-869-9177 ex 2 for details.  Starting at $3,500.

7. Coastal: Bodega Dunes: At Bodega Dunes there is quite a bit of space.  Although there is no beach view from these tables, the walk to this stunning (and we mean s-t-u-n-n-i-n-g) beach will take you only about 5 minutes. Table areas are sunny, with some shady spots and is semi-protected from wind.  There are a few really great, large BBQ pits, and easy parking for large groups. Bathrooms are located next to the picnic area. Overnight camping is just a few minutes drive away.  Rent a horse to ride on this beach!  Starting at $2,500.

8. Coastal: At Campbell Cove at the end of the parking lot.  We have 4 places available.  Great if you have kids, since the beach is a super easy short walk right next to the picnic area.  This is a great place to be during low tides (-0.5 negative tide or more) to see the tidepool animals and plants, since it does not face the open ocean!  Also, when the normal tide is out, this is a wonderful spot for kids to splash since the water is usually shallow, and waves are very small.  Bathrooms are there at the parking lot. Take a three minute walk to check out the infamous Hole in the Head. Just a short drive to local restaurants. Starting at $3,500.

9. Coastal: Bodega Head near the main parking lot.  We have two tables available  As you drive into the parking lot, look to your right. You will see two rows of tables. One is on the cliff side, the second is set back.  We have two spots available in the set back second row. Bathrooms are in the parking lot. Click here to see the row where space is available. Starting at $3,500.

Become a Sponsor

Stewards relies on sponsorships to defray the costs associated with special fund raising events and activities. Stewards has developed a comprehensive sponsorship program that provides sponsors with acknowledgement and benefits throughout the year. An acknowledgement banner is created and displayed at all events. Depending on the level of sponsorship, donors are mentioned in PR materials and in many cases business logos are used to highlight sponsors. Stewards also supports reciprocal links from our web site to sponsor web sites.

Donate Your Time

Stewards periodically needs assistance in the office or with projects that can be done at home. If you have time and skills to devote to office-related tasks give us a call. Our special event volunteers are invaluable and make it possible for us to raise funds through these important events each year. We host Family Day in Your Park, Art in the Park, and other events at the Forest Theater at Armstrong Redwoods SNR. Stewards also participates in the annual Fisherman’s Festival, and other outreach events. Come and spend the day on-site at an outdoor event and make a valuable contribution to Stewards’ fundraising activities!

Be an Advocate for California State Parks

The California State Parks system needs our support. Since the 1980’s, our state parks have sustained budget cuts that have resulted in a $1.2 billion deferred maintenance backlog. In May, 2008 the National Trust for Historic Preservation put California’s state parks system on its list of the 11 Most Endangered Places in the United States. In 2012, Stewards became the operator of Austin Creek State Recreation Area in order to keep it open. Stewards consistently works to advocate for our parks and keep our members and supporters up-to-date on how they can join us in this effort.
