How You Can Give

Your Support Makes a Difference

Your support helps us educate park visitors of all ages about the importance of being good stewards of the natural and cultural resources in our State Parks. Stewards stepped up and is currently keeping Austin Creek State Recreation Area open through an operating agreement with State Parks. Our environmental education programs serve over 6,000 school children each year! In addition, we support two State Parks visitor centers, public education activities and stewardship programs in our parks. Donations can be designated for specific programs that reflect your passion. General donations are used for programs without adequate funding at the discretion of the Stewards Board and staff. Donations $35 or more include a membership.

Stewards of the Coast and Redwoods is supported primarily through resale of educational materials in its visitor centers, sale of firewood at State Parks campgrounds, memberships, grants, donations from individuals and corporations and other fund development activities. As a 501(c)3 public benefit corporation all donations to our organization are tax deductible. Our tax ID number is 94-3039895.

Support the Kass Communtiy Circle

wally alby kass

In partnership with the Russian River Community Trust and individual donors, Stewards of the Coast and Redwoods will honor Wallie and Alby Kass by dedicating a special “Kass Community Circle” in the picnic area near the Volunteer Center in Armstrong Redwoods. Wallie and Alby were longtime business and community leaders in Guerneville. They were supporters of the Russian River Jewish Community and the local choir. They lived generously and enjoyed life and its beauty fully. Stewards will restore the picnic area, reopening it for public use and install two picnic tables with dedications to Wallie and Alby in a circle where friends can gather in their remembrance. The Russian River Community Trust has pledged $11,000 and we are raising another $14,000 to support restoring the picnic area and reopening Austin Creek to park visitors. Click here to donate today! Select the “Wallie and Alby Kass Fund” designation.

Support the Michele Luna Tribute Fund

The Board of Directors of Stewards of the Coast and Redwoods announces the establishment of the Michele Luna Tribute Fund to honor and continue the impact of the major contributions that Michele has made to Russian River Sector State Parks, the communities that Stewards serves, and Stewards’ staff and volunteers over the 27 years of her leadership tenure. Armstrong Redwoods/Austin Creek Fire Recovery Fund

Please consider a donation to our Fire Recovery Fund to support the staff efforts needed to mobilize volunteers for implementing fire recovery efforts in both Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve and Austin Creek State Recreation Area, including Bullfrog Pond campground.

Your contribution will help Stewards replace burned infrastructure and rehabilitate park resources:

We’ve been working on trail rehabilitation, replacing picnic tables, fencing, signage, wood splitter, other equipment & supplies, & processing downed trees into firewood.  This fire recovery project has been a joint endeavor between Stewards and our California State Parks partner, along with other nonprofit partner organizations. We are grateful for your shared love of our parks and for any amount you can give to help us make them accessible to you again. Stewards has lost a huge amount in revenue from day-use, camping fees and from resale in our visitor center.  We need your support to keep our staff working so they can accomplish all that it will take to reopen your parks.

To donate to the Fire Recovery Fund, select “one-time” or “recurring” below, choose your donation amount (or specify a different amount at the bottom of the list), then select the Armstrong Redwoods/Austin Creek Fire Recovery Fund from the drop down menu.

Become a Sponsor

Stewards relies on sponsorships to defray the costs associated with special fund raising events and activities. Stewards has developed a comprehensive sponsorship program that provides sponsors with acknowledgement and benefits throughout the year. An acknowledgement banner is created and displayed at all events. Depending on the level of sponsorship, donors are mentioned in PR materials and in many cases business logos are used to highlight sponsors. Stewards also supports reciprocal links from our web site to sponsor web sites.

Donate Your Time

Stewards periodically needs assistance in the office or with projects that can be done at home. If you have time and skills to devote to office-related tasks give us a call. Our special event volunteers are invaluable and make it possible for us to raise funds through these important events each year. We host Family Day in Your Park, Art in the Park, and our annual Old Grove Festival at the Forest Theater at Armstrong Redwoods SNR. Stewards also participates in the annual Fisherman’s Festival, the Bodega Seafood Art and Wine Festival and other outreach events. Come and spend the day on-site at an outdoor event and make a valuable contribution to Stewards’ fundraising activities!

Be an Advocate for California State Parks

The California State Parks system needs our support. Since the 1980’s, our state parks have sustained budget cuts that have resulted in a $1.2 billion deferred maintenance backlog. In May, 2008 the National Trust for Historic Preservation put California’s state parks system on its list of the 11 Most Endangered Places in the United States. In 2012, Stewards became the operator of Austin Creek State Recreation Area in order to keep it open. Stewards consistently works to advocate for our parks and keep our members and supporters up-to-date on how they can join us in this effort.
