Over years of dedicated service, Armstrong Redwoods Docents have developed an effective curriculum to teach park visitors about redwood ecology. In this workshop, Mike Roa will share with you how to use this curriculum to lead Armstrong group tours of all ages.
Note: This no fee workshop is designed for Armstrong Docents and participants who have taken volunteer orientation or a Redwood Ed workshop. Others are welcome too.
Instructor: Mike Roa is a retired teacher (4th grade – post grad). He is the author of Redwood Ed, A Guide to the Side of the Sea, and The Conifer Connection (all published by CA State Parks) as well as other environmental education resources. In his “retirement,” Mike serves as a docent for Stewards, organizes the North Bay Science Challenge, helps organize the North Bay Science Discovery Day, and produces the Grapevine, a science and environmental ed. e-newsletter.
Meets: Armstrong Redwoods Visitor Center, 17000 Armstrong Woods Rd, Guerneville, CA 95446 (at the picnic tables next to the welcome center)
