This is a free event! A limited number of free tickets are available to the public starting September 1st, 12 noon.
Join us as we listen to the hypnotic sound of handpans and other instruments by James and Friends at the Forest Theater – Sanctuary of Melodic Ambiance, in Armstrong Redwoods, Guerneville. Non-alcoholic drinks, beer, wine, snacks, merchandise table. Relax under the canopy of the redwoods! Please feel free to bring a comfortable pad to lie and/or meditate on.
The handpan, sometimes referred to as the “hang,” is a mesmerizing steel instrument that has captured the imagination of musicians and listeners around the world. The handpan produces a sound that is both soothing and enchanting, with each note carefully tuned to create a harmonious blend.
What sets the handpan apart is its ability to evoke emotion and inspire creativity, whether you’re exploring gentle melodies or complex rhythms. Its roots can be traced back to the steel pans of Trinidad and Tobago and the resonant clay ghatam of India, but today’s handpans have evolved into a new instrument with a distinct identity.
