Stewards Docent Lorri Pimentel will lead a short walk through the redwoods, identifying some of the fungi we find, their major characteristics such as changing shapes, color, observed gilled or spongy surface under the cap, presence and color of spores, as well as the ferns and moss and other things growing along the trail. Bring your cell phone to photograph your observations so you can draw them later.

After the walk the group will return to the warm volunteer center. Professional artist, Holly Mead, will give a lesson on drawing and coloring using water soluble colored pencils, then carefully “painting” over them with wet brushes on cold pressed watercolor paper.  All supplies are furnished except for cell phones.
