Be sure to watch this training video before the Friday March 8th meeting at Furlong Gulch Beach, which will take place from 1PM to 4PM. We will meet at the north end of the parking lot on Carlevaro Way, located just off Hwy 1, south of Shell Beach.  Directions to Carlevaro Way are located here.

The tidepools on the Sonoma Coast State Park beaches are teeming with multitudes of flora and fauna. From virtually invisible colonies of aggregating anemones to sea stars tucked under kelp, there are fragile intertidal creatures everywhere.

Tidepool education volunteers teach school and adult groups how to safely observe and interact with the fascinating life forms of the intertidal zone.  Participants learn about the importance of protecting the fragile plants and animals that inhabit this special ecosystem. Tidepool Roving volunteers stationed on beaches during low tides provide park visitors with a safe and educational experience exploring the tidepools.  Additionally, docents provide interpretation when our Touch Table is featured at events or along the coast.

No experience necessary! As a new volunteer, you will shadow experienced volunteers until you feel comfortable on your own.
