This is a community science event! Snapshot Cal Coast is a California statewide effort to document coastal biodiversity along the California Coast!

To document biodiversity on the Sonoma Coast, Stewards of the Coast and Redwoods is hosting a BioBlitz, on Saturday June 24th, 2023. Certified California Naturalists will meet participants to introduce the project, answer questions, and provide support for how to contribute to the efforts of protecting coastal biodiversity. During the BioBlitz different methods of documenting biodiversity will be shared. Stewards of the Coast and Redwoods staff and California Naturalists will provide any assistance needed for iNaturalist.

This fun gathering will prepare guests to participate in this year’s Snapshot Cal Coast project on their own, or host their own BioBlitz!

What to Bring:

-Camera, and/or device with iNaturalist app.
-Extra set of clothes.
-Shoes appropriate for water, rough terrain, and slippery surfaces.
-Sun protection.
-First aide.
-Food and water.
– Any other items for observing and recording the beauty and diversity of the California Coast, such as: binoculars, hand lens, nature journal, field guides, etc.
