9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Meets: At Armstrong Redwoods Volunteer Center Office, 17000 Armstrong Woods Rd, Guerneville, CA 95446.

You say you can’t draw? You don’t have to know how! This isn’t about art or a pretty picture. This is about engaging your sense of observations in nature. Nature Journaling is about recording your observations of nature in words, numbers and pictures. We use the prompts:  “I observe, I wonder, it reminds me of” to get our creative juices flowing. In this workshop we will explore some easy tips and techniques to get you started, then some practice. We will have resources and some materials to demonstrate and try. All you need is paper and a pencil — anything will do — or any art supplies you happen to have or want to practice with. And bring your sense of wonder!

We will meet at the Armstrong Redwoods Volunteer Center Office where Naturalist Sarah Reid will introduce fun and easy nature journaling techniques for us to practice. Once we familiarize ourselves with the techniques, we will gather our nature journaling supplies for a short and easy stroll into the Redwood forest.

Sarah Reid is a lifetime, (mostly) self-taught naturalist in Sonoma County, CA. She has participated in planning, developing, building trails, and restoring and maintaining public and private lands from a volunteer and observational perspective and with a variety of agencies. She is a two-time graduate of the UC CA Naturalist program in 2017 with Sonoma Ecology Center, and 2023 with Stewards of the  Coast & Redwoods. She is currently enjoying an addiction to iNaturalist and Nature Journaling, and providing hikes for senior citizens. The best family vacation is a week of day-hiking in the North Tahoe Basin. Sarah and her husband are dedicated multi user trail advocates.

This class is limited to 20 adults. Cost for members of Stewards of the Coast and Redwoods is $16.00 per guest, and $20.00 without membership. Day Use Parking Fee is included in your payment. Please note reservations are required and there are no refunds for cancellations. Stewards of the Coast and Redwoods offers fee waivers for the cost of community event programs, so please call (707) 869-9177 for more information.

Sorry, but this event is sold out.
