Parson Jones: The Life & Times of Rev. William Ladd Jones is a companion book to Colonel James B. Armstrong: His Family & His Legacy. Both of these books are about men who are remembered in Sonoma County as part of the history of Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve in Guerneville, CA.

The story of Rev. William Ladd Jones is mostly based on numerous original documents written by members of the Jones family at the end of the nineteenth century and in the early twentieth century. Circa 1900, one of William Ladd Jones' sisters requested that her siblings write down the recollections of their life as part of her family's history. Clayton R. Ford, a member of the Jones family, collected these autobiographies, diaries, and recollections. They give us insight into the varied careers and experiences of a successful and adventurous man who spent his life in religion and education.
