Victoria Wagner - Getting to Know Your Chainsaw, Pondering Large Scale Sculpture

“From reclaimed, downed trees, I create stacked wood sculptures that are monuments to living trees.
Once in my studio, the shapes that I carve with my chainsaw are inspired by accumulated environmental stressors, scars and growth patterns that occur within the span of the tree’s long life.” -Victoria Wagner

Victoria will lead a demonstration on getting to know your chainsaw and share safety basics to keep in mind when using your own chainsaw.

She will also demonstrate how she approaches a large scale sculpture on reclaimed wood from the park.

Please bring your sketchbook in the event that your imagination is sparked during your time together.

Victoria Wagner is a wood sculpture and abstract painter living in Sonoma County.
Her work is collected internationally.
She is an Associate Professor and Co-Chair of the Core Studio Program at California College of the Arts in San Francisco.
