Redwoods Reset: A Contemplative Forest Immersion

Guided by Tara Taylor, Armstrong Redwoods Docent & Expressive Arts Therapy Graduate Student

Amid a fast-moving and often overwhelming world, Redwoods Reset offers a gentle invitation: come walk slowly beneath the canopy of ancient trees. This 2.5-hour contemplative
experience—rooted in nature connection, gentle movement, and quiet reflection—is designed for adults seeking space to breathe, ground, and reconnect with nature, with stillness, with kindreds, and with their own inner rhythms.

In a small group of 8–10 participants, we’ll engage in slow and mindful walking on the forest floor, pausing to observe moments of beauty and wonder, and to reflect on the teachings the redwoods may offer about presence, rootedness, and the resilience that lives in all of us. We’ll close our time with an opportunity for creative response (no art experience needed) and
communal sharing. Together, we’ll invite the forest to support our nervous systems and help us reconnect with calm, curiosity, belonging, and the strength that grounds us.

Tara Taylor is a volunteer docent at Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve and a graduate student pursuing an M.A. in Counseling Psychology with a specialization in Expressive Arts Therapy. Drawing from her lived experience of healing through creative and embodied practice, she is passionate about creating spaces where adults can slow down, listen deeply, and rediscover their innate capacity for restoration and meaning.
