Join Nature Journal Instructor and CA Naturalist Sarah Reid in this structured class that will include some basic beginner techniques that will be slightly different than the first workshop, so this provides more practice for those who have attended before and a basis for beginners. Explore and practice how to more deeply explore what we observe in nature using words, pictures and numbers in a journal. No artistic experience necessary! This is not about making a pretty picture. Bring your curiosity, a journal or plain paper, a pencil and/or black ballpoint pen. If you have art tools, you are welcome to bring them (colored pencils, watercolor pencils or paints).

We will meet at the Armstrong Redwoods Volunteer Center Office where Sarah will introduce fun and easy nature journaling techniques for us to practice. Once we familiarize ourselves with the techniques, we may take a short walk on level trails if weather permits.

About Sarah
Sarah Reid is an instructor of Nature Journaling. Her journey began in a 2017 California Naturalist certification course where a nature journal was required. She taught herself how to draw and journal using the John Muir Laws’ Guide to Drawing and Nature Journaling. After taking many online live and recorded workshops from John Muir Laws’, attending week-long retreats with him and other nature journal instructors, and participating in the annual Wild Wonder Nature Journaling Conference, Sarah began teaching Nature Journaling in 2023. She has since become a Wild Wonder Foundation Nature Journal Ambassador and offers classes for local land agencies and organizations. She regularly journals her observations in local parks and preserves, including in her own backyard. Sarah also has a background in teaching art techniques with a variety of art mediums as assistant manager at an artistic rubber stamp store in Santa Rosa. She enjoys whatever Nature has to offer in the various seasons. She is also an iNaturalist Ambassador and a dedicated volunteer for local parks and preserves.
