Join us August 16th from 5:30pm to 7pm for COLOR: EXPANDING YOUR VISUAL VOCABULARY at the Blue Door Gallery, with August Pond Farm Pottery Artist in Residence, Kseniya Makarova! There is no charge to attend this event, but space is limited.
Color can be an intimidating aspect of creative pursuits, and is often very subjective, making it easy to get stuck in a limited palette. Kseniya will share her approach to broadening one’s color “vocabulary” to allow for a wider range of expression. We’ll look at a variety of examples, discuss how to use color theory as a useful tool rather than a constricting set of limitations, and finish with some exercises in building color palettes based on ideas presented. Perfect for any level of skill or experience, and applicable to use in any medium where color is in play!
Kseniya Makarova is a San Francisco artist and designer with an independent creative practice focused on painting, works on paper, and large-scale murals. Her artwork celebrates the landscapes, plant-life, and history of the Bay Area and California, with a focus on color, flow, and embedded emotion. She is the August Artist in Residence at Pond Farm Pottery where she is working primarily in watercolor to capture expressive landscapes and temporal shifts of color.
Kseniya’s work has been displayed at the de Young museum, Minnesota Street Projects, and San Francisco City Hall, as well as gracing walls around San Francisco and the greater bay area in public and private mural projects.
