Pond Farm Pottery’s July Artist-in-Residence Asmara Beraki will screen her series of short films called Quotidian Cinematics followed by a Q&A session and a workshop on how to make your own creative short films using only your phone or laptop computer.
Please bring a laptop or smartphone with a video editing application already installed such as iMovie or Adobe Rush or any other easy editing software. No experience necessary.
Asmara Beraki is primarily a filmmaker but also writes poetry and articles, quilts, and engages in a visual art practice (collage, drawing, and painting).
In her own words, «I believe art and the nurturing of the creative spirit is crucial for healthy societies and communities. Art is a mode of communication that is intuitive, tactile, visual, auditory, metaphysical and so on; art stimulates many other senses not merely those possessed by the rational or logical mind.»
Brought to you by Arts in California Parks, Stewards of the Coast and Redwoods, River Arts, and Guerneville Library.
