Stewards of the Coast and Redwoods is pleased to announce the launching of its first UC Climate Steward Certification course this year for adults interested in climate science, interpretation, and action. Climate Stewards is an exciting new Initiative from the University of California Cooperative Extension in partnership with the Stewards of the Coast and Redwoods. In this program you will learn more about the science of climate change, how to communicate more effectively about this issue, and how to help your community adapt to climate challenges.

The course will be on Wednesday evenings from 6:30-9:00 pm starting August 17th and ending November 9th. The 10-week course combines online classes with guest experts and three Saturdays learning and visiting climate-relevant sites in Sonoma County; and will complete online coursework and a final capstone project to receive your certification from the University of California. In this interactive course you will practice the skills you need to work with others on finding climate solutions.

As a Certified Climate Steward, you will become part of a statewide network working to promote community and ecosystem resilience for California’s future. To learn more about this initiative, visit UCANR’s Climate Stewards page. Registration closes on August 12th.

Instructors: Cathy Johnson (Environmental Scientist and Educator) [email protected] and Guest Lecturers.  For more information please contact Stewards at: (707) 869-9177 or [email protected].
