Tidepool Volunteer Orientation

2026 Tidepool Volunteer Training and Field Visit

WHEN:

Monday, February 23, 2026

6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

WHERE:

Zoom and Sonoma Coast State Park
Campbell Cove
Bodega Bay, CA 94923

Trainer: Hollis Bewley, Tidepool Program Coordinator

This is a two-part training

The tidepools on the Sonoma Coast State Park beaches are teeming with multitudes of flora and fauna. From virtually invisible colonies of aggregating anemones to sea stars tucked under kelp, there are fragile intertidal creatures everywhere.

Tidepool education volunteers teach school and adult groups how to safely observe and interact with the fascinating life forms of the intertidal zone. Participants learn about the importance of protecting the fragile plants and animals that inhabit this special ecosystem. Additionally, docents provide interpretation when our Touch Table is featured at events or along the coast.

Tidepool education groups are scheduled for late March through early June to coincide with low tides along the coast. No experience necessary! As a new volunteer, you will shadow experienced volunteers until you feel comfortable on your own.

We look forward to seeing you on Monday February 23 for part one of our two-part training

Part 1 of the training: Monday February 23  6 – 8pm on zoom. Look will be shared upon registration.

Part 2 of the training: Field Visit Sunday March 1 from 3 – 5 PM at Campbell Cove, Bodega Head, Sonoma Coast State Park Map to Campbell Cove
